Do you really know why you are in such a rush?

When you assess time from a place of lack, there are never enough hours in the day to accomplish your priorities and needs. There is also a permanent sense of rush when you believe that there is never enough. However, do you know why you are in such a rush? Are you adopting someone else’s pace or are you following your own? In either case, you are experiencing a sense of lack, which can be daunting, exhausting, as well as never ending. It’s no wonder you’re so tired.

Let’s take a closer look at why you are in a rush. Take a pen and paper, and write down these three questions:

“Why am I in such a rush?” Write your answers down without over thinking. Once you’re done, look and see if you are truly in a place of lack.  Perhaps you’ve been rushing through life for so long, you no longer know why you need to go so fast.

“What would happen to me if I stopped rushing and actually slowed down?” Will someone get hurt? Will the work never get done? Will there be nothing else to do?

“If I wasn’t busy rushing, what would I do instead?” Perhaps you always wanted to take a painting class, or learn how to dance Salsa or actually make it to your son’s soccer game on time.

It’s not ok to follow someone else’s lead or simply give in to a lack of time mentality because it’s all you know. You owe it to yourself to truly know why you do what you do- it’s the only way to fix it- if that’s what you truly want.

By the way, when you’re rushing, for rush’s sake, you give away your power to the external influences around you. It’s a lot harder at this point, to make solid decisions and engage in powerful and emotional connections.

I say you make today the day you find the reasons why you live such a hurried life and take a step closer to slowing down, even for a bit.
